Star Trek Show Titles – Episode 15

Which is your favorite Star Trek show title?  Is it “For the World is Hollow and I have Touched the Sky?”  Or maybe it’s “Requiem for Methuselah?” Still other people might pick “The City on the Edge of Forever” or “The Conscience of the King.”

This week co-hosts Bob Turner and Kelly Casto discuss their favorite Star Trek show titles.

One of the reasons Star Trek has always been popular is its use of language and that can really be seen in the episode titles. There’s something lyrical about the names for Trek’s shows.  They’re not straight forward explanations about each episode.  Instead, they often reference concepts from classic works.  When they don’t, they are constructed in such a way as to sound like they came right out of a college Literature class.

These titles make the viewer think and wonder what’s coming up next.  They are so high-brow, in fact, that 50 years later, many of these titles still confuse fans!  But with names such as “Amok Time,” “Let That Be Your Last Battlefield,” or “Tomorrow is Yesterday,” you can help but wait with anticipation for that week’s episode to unfold.

Of course, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention “Turnabout Intruder.” It is probably the best Star Trek title for one of its worst episodes.
